The Deluxe Birth Box
The Deluxe Birth Box
Our Deluxe Birth box includes all your essentials for birth with the additional items, a TENS machine and a Rebozo.
This box has all the comfort measures you could ask for with the addition of the tens machine and a beautiful yellow multipurpose hand woven Rebozo. As with a number of items in our boxes the Rebozo, has many uses way beyond pregnancy and birth.
Rebozo
Your Rebozo will support you through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Mexican midwives use rebozos to perform 'manteada', a massage technique where the woman is rocked and shaken in a rebozo like in a hammock, to help relieve back and pelvic pain and to help get her baby in a good position for birth. Rebozo techniques are also used during childbirth to rotate the baby naturally and healthily down the pelvis and through the birth canal.
We have also included rings to transform your rebozo into a sling to carry your little one and keep them close. It can carry babies from newborn up to 5 years. When they have outgrown it, it can be used as a scarf, a shawl or blanket for your little one. We hope that your Rebozo will journey with you and hold all the wonderful memories of motherhood.
These Rebozos have a CE certification verifying their suitability for use as wraps, ensuring they meet rigorous standards in terms of ergonomics, flammability, weight capacity, mechanical properties and they are free of harmful chemicals.
(Yellow Rebozi included)
Tens Machine
Perfect Mama + is a maternity TENS unit designed to provide pain relief in labour and has the additional benefit of a contraction timer. Maternity TENS machines are medically proven to be safe and effective. Perfect Mama+ is portable and easy to use too. Using Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), this device blocks pain signals to the brain and triggers the release of endorphins as a natural alternative to medication. It's a simple to use and wearable device, allowing you to track your contractions too. The device offers 3 clinically-proven pre-set programmes and a boost button to provide additional pain relief during contractions, giving you ultimate control.
• Do NOT use during the first three months of pregnancy. It is not known whether TENS may affect foetal development.
• Do NOT use on the abdomen in the later stages of pregnancy. Stop using immediately if you experience unexpected contractions.
Fairy lights and tea lights
Create your perfect birth space by turning off bright lights and using the fairy lights and tea lights. There are so many benefits to dim lighting during labour. Dim lighting releases melatonin which works together with Oxytocin to drive labour. Place your lights around the room and create somewhere beautiful, private, calming and cosy to get those birth hormones flowing.
Affirmations
Affirmations are short statements to help you achieve your desired mindset. Repeating these affirmations can help to alleviate fear and increase your confidence. We have chosen some of our favourite affirmations and we have kept some blank for you to write your own. Check out our instagram page for some affirmation inspiration! Inside the little envelope you will find your gold pegs, use these to attach your affirmations or photos to your fairy lights.
Acupressure ball
Your acupressure ball was hand-carved from cedar wood, keeping in line with our sustainability values. It can be used on various parts of the body. You can decide how strong the sensory stimulus is - a slight tickling sensation or stronger pressure. Grip the ball in the palm of your hand - this reduces the sensations of contractions by releasing endorphins - our bodies natural painkillers. Rolling the ball on your foot during pregnancy and labour can bring relief. Gentle touch helps us feel safe, calm and supported - this triggers oxytocin! Roll gently over muscles ( buttocks, thighs and back) to soothe pain. You can practise the different types of massage with your birth partner before labour.
Comb
We wanted our bamboo comb to have one of our favourite affirmations on it -
“I can do anything for a minute.”
The comb works in a couple of different ways and can be used during labour, whilst having an epidural inserted or any time where you feel anxious or have pain.
Acupressure - By squeezing the comb you apply pressure to the Lao gong acupressure point in the hand. This has many benefits including reducing anxiety, stimulating endorphins (our bodies natural painkillers) and dulling any other sensations. You find the Lao gong acupressure point by making a fist with your hand. Where your middle and ring finger meet your palm is where the comb needs to go. You can start off by squeezing the comb lightly and you can build this up gradually as the contractions increase. Change hands regularly.
Gate control theory - The gate control theory says that the brain cannot concentrate on more than one sensation at the same time. So by gripping the comb it diverts your focus to the sensation in your hand.
Eye mask
Wearing an eye mask during labour can help create a calming environment and encourage you to go inward, which increases relaxation and reduces stress. It allows you to remain in your own personal space and concentrate on your labour. It also increases melatonin which helps drive labour. Wearing an eye mask can help with sleep and rest during pregnancy, labour and postpartum too.
Fan
It’s very common to feel hot and sweaty during labour. It can feel so good to have a cooling breeze on your face.
Face cloth
Get your birth support person to soak it in warm or cold water and place it on your forehead, wrists or the back of your neck.
Heat pack
Heat packs are a great way of easing pain and helping you to relax in labour. You can place it on your lower back to ease any aches or pains. Use of heat packs during labour has been shown to reduce discomfort and increase satisfaction.
Water bottle
Your water bottle is an essential for birth and postpartum. Keeping you hydrated through labour with an easy to drink from straw. The bottle can then be used in the days, weeks and years after the birth of your little one. A handy handle to make it easy to carry while holding your baby. Our bottle keeps drinks cold for 24hours and hot for 12 hours. BPA- Free. 100% leak proof and Irish owned and designed.

Candle
We’ve included a lavender candle to light at home when you need some grounding and to focus your attention. Perhaps to relax you during those last few days or pregnancy, or when labour sets in light this candle and set an intention. Take a moment for yourself to acknowledge all you have done and remind yourself of all of the wisdom within you.
This can be used when labour sets in, or the morning of a planned induction or Cesarean to calm your mind as you take that final step into parenthood.
You have the strength and wisdom of generations of women within you.
Essential oils
Evidence shows different essential oils can affect mood, blood pressure, perception of pain and concentration. Essential oils can help relieve stress during labour which can ease pain. Lavender and frankincense were found to be most beneficial for reducing anxiety, fear and pain in labour as well as chamomile.Frankincense is great for deep breathing this signals our parasympathetic nervous system to calm the body down.
Combining Frankincense and peppermint - re energises the birthing room which is why we chose Peppermint for our lip Balm
Lip Balm
Our beautiful lip balm has been formulated with beeswax and cocoa butter for extra hydrating power to keep your lips hydrated during labour. We choose peppermint as it has been found to be good for nausea during the birth process. It is also really good for focus and stamina.
